I did not come from a business background. I fell into the online space when I first began Secure Single in December 2015. However, I still had an employee mindset when I started my website. I believed that college would help me find a stable career (it did not).
The best and most challenging thing I have ever done was start my website. Later, I would learn about online business, e-commerce, and making money online.

It's necessary to learn and understand the essential skills that make a company operate successfully, including sales, marketing, accounting, communication, copywriting, legal paperwork, and taxes.
At the beginning of your business, you are responsible for everything. However, you can delegate and hire people to handle specific tasks as you generate revenue and profit.
Master More Than One Skill
As a business owner, you need to be skilled in various areas. Initially, you will have to handle everything, but you will eventually need to be competent in different fields to thrive.
This is where self-education plays a significant role. You need to be open to learning and developing new skills. However, if you cannot handle a particular skill and you have the financial resources to hire someone, it is wise to diplomatically outsource that task.
For instance, I've always outsourced website design and accounting since starting my website. I do not have any technical knowledge about websites, and I am not good at accounting. Nonetheless, I have learned all the other skills required to manage my business.
I am taking a copywriting course to enhance my writing skills, make it more persuasive, and grow my website, Substack, and newsletter.
Never Apologize For A Bad Decision
As a business owner, you are responsible for every decision you make, whether good or bad. You will inevitably make mistakes. Things can and will go wrong.
However, it is crucial to learn from each mistake and prevent it from happening again.
Rather than viewing mistakes as a negative occurrence, view them as an opportunity for self-growth and education. Learning from a mistake can help you and improve your business.

Change can be a frightening experience for many people. As a business owner, it is crucial to be open to changes in your business, or else it could lead to the downfall of your company.
Many famous businesses have failed in the past because they were not open to change or could not adapt to new trends. For instance, companies such as Blockbuster, Radio Shack, IBM, Kodak, Enron, Circuit City, Compaq Computers, Pan Am, Tower Records, and Pets.com went bankrupt because they failed to evolve with the changing times.
Embrace The Future
It is essential to be open to change and embrace the future. The future is unpredictable and full of uncertainties, so knowing where it's heading is critical to keep your business going.
You also need to keep up with changing trends and technologies that may impact your business and your customers' evolving wants and needs. It's crucial to be where your customers are, even if that means switching platforms.
