Forbidden Freedom: Why Rules Are Meant To Be Broken
Do you think rules are meant to be followed? Or are rules meant to be broken? Your response reveals a lot about you. Discover forbidden freedom by breaking the rules.
Do you prefer to follow or lead? If you are content following the established order, then you are a follower. You are a leader if you enjoy defying rules and seeking forbidden freedom. But you are a true leader if you crave the thrill of forbidden freedom and the satisfaction of making your own rules. So, which one are you?
Conditioned To Be A Follower
You find comfort in following. You may feel secure with your steady paycheck and fear the uncertainty of leaving your comfort zone. Despite some issues with the system, you believe it offers assistance. You do not see anything wrong with being conditioned to follow.
Education System
The education system teaches you to respect authority and fear making mistakes. Unfortunately, its primary goal is not to teach critical thinking and skills that will prepare you to be successful in life.
Instead, the educational system is designed to train you to become a good employee. As a result, you may find that your education has left you ill-equipped to navigate the challenges of the real world.

Work Life
A good employee is expected to follow the instructions of their managers or bosses. If an employee deviates from the instructions, managers will address the issue. Repeated mistakes will likely lead to termination.
In addition, a good employee is proactive and takes initiative based on the instructions of their managers or bosses. They also demonstrate critical thinking skills within the boundaries set by the company.
Your wage is fixed as an employee. Although there may be some room for negotiation or a minimal raise, the earning potential in your chosen career field is limited. It is unlikely that your employer will give you a raise that keeps up with inflation.
Finances
Depending on your occupation, you may have the opportunity to save and invest money.
Alternatively, you may be stuck working a dead-end, part-time, or gig job where your earnings are insufficient to save money. In such a situation, all you earn goes towards paying your monthly expenses and debts.
I have only ever worked dead-end jobs. During my college years, I sold printers, and in graduate school, I delivered food for Grubhub. I have also worked several other random merchandising jobs where I would update displays for major retailers. Unfortunately, these jobs offered no promise of a career.
Social Life
After finishing work, you may unwind by attending happy hours or catching up on the latest show everyone is talking about. Both of these everyday social activities involve the use of substances. Happy hours typically involve the consumption of alcohol. At the same time, binge-watching shows can trigger the release of dopamine in the brain.
Mindset
You might have either a victim mindset or a fixed mindset. A victim mindset is when you tend to hold others or institutions responsible for your life situation. On the other hand, a fixed mindset is when you think you cannot do certain things. Both of these negative mindsets can hinder your success and hold you back.
System Structure
You may believe the system is against you. This belief could result from a victim mentality.
However, despite feeling that the system is not in your favor, you may still be open to accepting solutions from authoritative figures such as politicians and major corporations.
Essentially, you may be indirectly supporting the very system that you dislike.
Happy Where You Are
You may currently be content with the way things are in your life. However, you may also be experiencing fear and resistance towards any potential changes that might occur. These fears could be linked to your apprehension about the future. While staying in your comfort zone may feel safe, it could prevent you from experiencing personal growth and progress.
Embrace Breaking The Rules
Are you tired of living life by the book? Are you craving more excitement and freedom? Why not embrace breaking the rules? After all, rules are arbitrary, and life can be dull. You may experience a new sense of liberation by breaking the rules and living on your terms. Don't settle for a mundane existence as a follower - take a chance and break the rules for a change.
Education
You prefer self-learning rather than spending money on getting an expensive fancy degree. You believe in implementing what you learn from books, digital courses, blog articles, or videos you watch.
You understand that self-education is a continuous learning process crucial for self-improvement.
Work Life
You are striving to leave the corporate world or your stagnant job by starting a side hustle and turning it into a full-fledged business. Some people in your circle may think you are crazy or fail to comprehend your aspirations, but that is absolutely fine. You are on a unique path that diverges from the conventional one, which society typically deems the only path to success.
You are not afraid of being unconventional. You dare to do things differently and stand by your decisions, even if others think you are crazy or wrong. Thinking differently gives you a unique perspective on the world, which can be helpful in whatever you do. You understand that not everyone will always agree, and you are okay with that.
You are self-confident, which is essential for achieving your goals. You believe in your ability to solve problems and overcome obstacles.
You take action based on what you learn. Minor changes and consistent progress can lead to significant results over time.
You are willing to take risks. You understand that trying new things involves some risk. Still, you are willing to put yourself out there because you know taking risks is necessary for growth and success.
Finances
As an investor, you invest in various financial assets and explore new ways to make your money work for you. You may allocate five to ten percent of your investment portfolio to speculation.
Your financial assets may include businesses, real estate, the stock market, and commodities. Conversely, if the speculation is correct, speculative investments can outperform regular investments. However, they may or may not work out in your favor, so it is essential to be mindful of the risks involved.
You accept and are aware of the risks with your investments and speculations.
Social Life
You prioritize networking with individuals who are more successful than you to learn from them. You're open to getting out of your comfort zone and exposing yourself to new experiences and perspectives, which can benefit any project you are working on.
Additionally, you enjoy spending time alone despite possibly coming across as anti-social. You understand that solitude can foster creativity and productivity.
Mindset
You have an abundance or a business mindset. You believe that you accomplish things by taking action. You can always find a way to resolve a problem.
With a business mindset, you may be more practical and pragmatic. You believe in deleting tasks and working to develop systems to increase your productivity.
System Structure
You work to find ways to use the system to your benefit. You may have a general understanding of business, law, and finance. You likely recognize that the system is intentionally structured the way it is. Rather than complain about it, you work to practically use the various structures within the system to your advantage.
You Are Future-Oriented
You are future-oriented and believe in practicing long-term thinking. You understand the importance of investing in yourself so your future self can be better than you are today. You improve your health, relationships, and finances for the long term.
You are aware of the dangers of short-term thinking and satisfaction; instead, think long-term and take the necessary steps to achieve your goals and build your desired future.
