3 Problems With Conformity
These are three problems with conformity. Go your own way and invest in yourself!
Many people just want to fit in. You may be happy going along the crowd. You give up your individuality by wanting to join the “cool kids” or be part of a group. Here are three problems with conformity.
Conformity
Conformity is when you change your actions and behaviors to fit in with society and people you know just to fit in. You may do this to avoid conflict. You may think going along with others is the easiest way to do things. It is.
You can reject conformity by deciding to go your own way.
Go Along With The Crowd
Most people want to go along to get along. They want to fit in with others. Ideally, many people think they want to be part of the “cool crowd.” People can find themselves changing their interests in an attempt to fit in. They may see no problem with compromising who they are as individuals if it gets them access to the group they want to be a part of.
Follow A Leader
You think you must follow a leader. There may be someone who you think is a leader. You follow them because you may believe they are a “public servant,” a “guru,” or an “expert.” You may unquestionably listen to someone who society presents to you as being a leader.

You give up your critical thinking by always doing what a “leader” says. You do as you are told. This is the easiest way to go through life.
You give up your critical thinking skills. You give up self-responsibility. You may think that “leaders” are there to improve your life. No “leader” can do that. You are giving up your power to an external influence. It does not matter whether it is a politician, talking head on television, influencer, or someone you must respect.
You are the one who is responsible for improving your life.
Lose Your Individuality
The biggest problem with conformity is you lose your individuality. You give up what makes you unique to be part of a group. It may be a small group. It may be a large group within society.
You lose your essence. Just like a small raindrop gets lost in the ocean. You squander your unique attributes, skills, interests, and time to fit in. Instead, you could focus on yourself by working to reach your goals instead of wanting to please others.
Solutions
These are seven solutions to help you stand up against conformity.
Go your own way.
Think for yourself. Question authority. Question everything. Do your research. Come to your conclusions.
You can feel comfortable spending time alone in solitude. You can work on projects that will help you reach your goals.
Be comfortable with who you are as an individual.
Stop caring what other people think about you.
Decide to invest in yourself.
Stand up for yourself.
The best thing you can do is to take back your power. You can practice self-discipline. You can accept self-responsibility for your life. You can stop paying attention to the people society says deserve your attention (turn them off). Set goals. You can invest in yourself. You will then start accomplishing things rather than being a victim and relying upon others.
