Stress is common. You may do too much. You may be experiencing a major life change or dealing with grief.
Do you experience stress? I know I sometimes do. These are three reasons why you feel overwhelmed.
You Do Too Much
You may put too much pressure on yourself. You may be unable to relax. You cannot just chill.
You may have too much on your plate at one time. You may be responsible for more things than you can handle. The anxiety comes from knowing you cannot do everything you need to do.
Solutions
You can also start to manage your list of things you must do in order of importance. You can also begin to set realistic goals for yourself. Small goals build upon each other over time. Your small goals can help you reach your big goals.
You could decide to have a day to relax. You could meditate, exercise, and spend time in nature. You can have a self-care day. You get to decide what that looks like for you.
You May Be Dealing With Grief
You may be dealing with grief. You may have lost a spouse, a loved one, or something significant.
There are many ways that a person can experience grief. A person could lose their job. A person could lose their home. A person could lose a parent, a spouse, or someone they loved.
You may still be dealing with the powerful emotions of losing someone or something you love. It is alright to be overwhelmed by strong emotions during this time.
Some of the emotions you may be dealing with are anger, sadness, or despair. It can be difficult to focus during a time of grief. The grieving process is complex and unique to each person.
You may feel like you are going down a downward spiral. You may never think you can get back up once you reach the bottom…if you ever reach the lowest point of sorrow.
Grief can affect your well-being. Stress can negatively affect your mental, emotional, and physical health. You may become stuck in depression. You may continue to remain angry. You may never leave your house or exercise because you are still working to recover from what you have lost.
Sorrow is natural. It is a part of life. Death is natural. Memento mori, “Remember, you must die.”
Solutions
You can start by recognizing your emotions. You can write down the emotions that you are experiencing. You can journal the cause that is making you experience certain emotions. There is nothing wrong with experiencing anger, sadness, or grief. It is vital to allow oneself to deal with and go through the grieving process.
During this time of sorrow, you can also find support from your family and friends. You could also consider seeing a therapist.
